Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large firm green tomatoes sliced into thick slices
  • White corn meal ok to use yellow if you can’t find white, but it’s not my preference
  • Canola oil for frying
  • Kosher salt

Instructions
 

  • Slice your tomato into thick slices
  • Place corn meal into a shallow dish
  • Put a nice layer of oil in a fry pan and warm up to med-high heat
  • While oil is heating up press tomato slices into corn meal and make sure both sides are nicely covered
  • Then place them in the fry pan and cook until golden brown
  • Flip and cook until the second side is golden brown as well
  • Remove from oil
  • Place on paper towel lined dish and sprinkle with salt while they’re still hot
  • I prefer to eat these when they’re still blazing hot, but some folks prefer to eat them when they’ve cooled down a bit.
