Tipping the hat to the Irish again today with this Irish recipe I found for Irish Apple Crumble. In testing out a new recipe I always cut it in half because I’m never sure exactly what’s going to happen and there’s nothing worse than wasting ingredients on a bad recipe.
However this was a HUGE hit with my family and there wasn’t a crumb left. Next time I’m making the full batch as written below.
Not only is this tasty as dessert when it’s still warm, but it is also yummy cold for breakfast the next morning. So it’s a win win!
IRISH APPLE CRUMBLE
Filling:
6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored & cubed
1 tbsp flour
60g light brown sugar
Juice of ½ a lemon
Crumble:
150g flour
175g light brown sugar
150g quick cook oats
200g non-dairy margarine, cold
- Pre-heat oven to 375’F
- Place crumble ingredients in a large bowl, mix with fingers until it looks like pebbles
- In a large baking pan, toss apples with flour, sugar & lemon juice
- Cover with crumble topping until there is an even layer over the apples
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the crumble topping is golden brown, the fruit will be soft & bubbling
- Serve warm
