Central Coast Author Publishes Guide to Poisonous Plants

February 1, 2018 (San Luis Obispo, CA) Local author, blogger and chef, Heather Thomas, fulfilled a longtime goal of publishing a Guide to Poisonous Plants. The guide is available free at her website – http://slocooking.net/resources/.

Thomas feels this essential reference guide should be a free for all parents. As a three year old child she actually ate green Nightshade berries, mistaking them for peas fresh from the pod. Thomas had to have her stomach pumped and happily survived. Afterwards her mother saw Nightshade growing outside the pediatrician’s office and organized the original version of the guide for their hometown in Maine.

The updated version is larger than the original and covers plants on both the East & West Coast. The guide features original artwork by Thomas’ eleven year old daughter.

San Luis Obispo based Heather Thomas is the author & creative mastermind behind sloCooking. What started as a project to keep this modern mom busy while a toddler (now 11) napped has turned into much more.  For the past eleven years Thomas and her husband owned & operated Two Cooks Catering in San Luis Obispo, CA – they closed the business in 2016.

Thomas embraced the opportunity to go back to writing and re-branded her blog sloCooking in early 2017. She posts weekly recipes, tips and cooking information in addition to creating special  kitchen related downloads for her subscribers – and recently branched into writing allergy friendly recipes. Thomas herself is allergic to dairy and tree nuts, and just recently found she is intolerant to wheat & gluten.

She is available for product reviews, demonstrations and talks about cooking for the modern family. For more information visit www.slocooking.net or find sloCooking on FaceBook. For more information email Heather or call (805) 710-2882.
