Braised Mushrooms

These make a great side dish or appetizer. As you know I’m a huge fan of everything mushroom. This recipe is easy to make and a huge crowd pleaser.

Braised Fresh Mushrooms

1 lb. fresh mushrooms (mixed baby bellas & shiitake)

½ cup corn oil

1 ½ tbsp. tamari

1 tbsp. sugar

1 tbsp. oyster sauce

3 tbsp. chopped red onion

  • Rub mushrooms with damp paper towel to remove dirt
  • Cut off brown part on ends of baby bellas (if you want to make mushroom stock later, save cut off bits of mushroom – I keep mine in a bag in the freezer until I’m ready to make my stock)
  • Remove whole stem from shiitake
  • Heat large non-stick pan until hot
  • Add oil and stir fry mushrooms over medium-high heat, about 12 minutes
  • Add onion, sauté until onions are soft
  • Add tamari and sugar, stir
  • Mix in oyster sauce
  • Serve warm
